Lakeville Area Community Band

This in-house community band was formed by Lakeville area residents and the Lakeville Area Arts Center with the purpose of providing an opportunity for musicians of all ages to continue growing their instrumental skills, build community and share the music they create.

Mission Statement

The Lakeville Area Community Band’s dual mission is:

  1. To create a community in which musicians with a wide range of experience can enjoy the benefits of playing.
  2. To represent the City of Lakeville while bringing live music to the community.

Band Director

Joe Lasko

Joe Lasko came on board as Band Director in 2023. He graduated from Lakeville North High School in 2006 and earned his instrumental music education degree from the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire. He joined the Lakeville Area Community Band as a tuba player in 2016. He teaches in the Farmington School District as a middle school band director and performs with the Lakeville Sliders.

History of the Band

Our band has been in existence since 2016. Since then, we have had regular performances for Lakeville’s Pan-O-Prog summer festival, participated in its Grand Parade and performed Christmas concerts in December. We’ve also played outdoor concerts most summer months since 2017 in Antlers Park and on the Casperson Park Performance Stage since 2023. The band has performed out of town at Minnehaha Regional Park in Minneapolis and twice at the Moose Lake Oktoberfest with the Moose Lake Community Band. Around March 1 each year, in recognition of Music In Our Schools Month, we play in the annual Lakeville Band Fest with the Lakeville North Symphonic Band and the Lakeville South Wind Ensemble. The band’s founder, Janice Differding, served as director from the band’s inception until summer 2023.
