The Quigley family moved to St. Paul in the early 1800s and staked a claim in the south metro in the mid-1800s. The farmland that Quigley-Sime Park currently sits on was owned and passed down by Patrick Quigley to his eldest sons. Parcels of the land were purchased by other Quigley family members throughout the early 1900s and remained under their ownership for generations. In 1992, the descendants of Patrick Quigley operating under Quigley-Sime Associates and specifically Mary T. Quigley, donated 27 acres of land to the City for public park usage.
The athletic facility as we see it today, was constructed in 1993 and various upgrades to the parking lot, dugouts, fields and more have been completed over the years.
What is the Adopt-A-Park Program?
Adopt-A-Park is a public service program for volunteers to pick up litter, identify safety hazards and to freely communicate other issues associated with a particular park.
Program Guidelines
Adopt-A-Park is open to community groups, civic groups, churches and individual citizens for a minimum period of one year. Commitments may be for a longer term, preferably at least two years. Park sites are chosen on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to past Adopt-A-Park participants. For more information about adopting a park, contact Lakeville's Parks Administration by email.
